A private trout estate on the cool Mpumalanga highveld
The Lochs is a shareblock estate of twenty stands set across 352 hectares of highveld farmland in the Kleinspruit valley, on Mpumalanga's Highlands Meander. Two hours from Pretoria and Johannesburg, twenty-five minutes from Dullstroom, and a world away from both. A resident farm manager looks after the estate year-round.
The estate is kept simple on purpose: water, grassland and quiet. What it offers, it offers well.
Five dams lie across the estate, the largest spanning twenty hectares of open water. Four are stocked with trout every month of the year.
Still-water fly fishing on the stocked dams, through all seasons of the highveld year.
Fishing rights on four to five kilometres of river on a neighbouring farm: pools, cascades and a fifty-metre waterfall.
Farm roads and the adjacent forestry areas give long, quiet routes for walking and riding, straight from your stand.
Summer thunderstorms and wildflowers, misty mornings on the water, and crisp, clear winter days with frost on the veld.
A resident farm manager and staff of three maintain the dams, roads and grounds throughout the year.
